Small World

At the June 15 meeting I was pleasantly surprised when John, N8MKR sat down at my table at the meeting. John, N8MKR is from Akron, Ohio, the town where I grew up years ago. John, talked to Doug on the Patriots net because he was coming to San Antonio to visit his son and visit the branch office of the company he works for in Ohio.

He was able to combine business and visit his son James, who also is a ham and is going to medical school here in San Antonio. Doug invited him to our meeting and to enjoy some TexMex food at Lupe Tortilla.

I had an interesting conversation with him about my old hometown and what’s happened since I left many years ago to go into the Navy.
